Speaker Profile

Assoc.Prof. Dr Kranthi Raja Kacharaju, a graduate of Manipal University, India, specialised in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics in the year 2010. He is currently working as Deputy Dean (Research) and co-ordinator, post graduate studies in MAHSA University Malaysia. His knowledge and teaching in the field of endodontics and operative dentistry are well-recognized and appreciated.

AP.Dr Kranthi worked as Assistant Professor in SVS Institute of Dental Sciences and as Consultant Endodontist for various dental clinics in Hyderabad, India. His profound interest and dexterity in clinical endodontics made him a master in rotary systems. His inquisitiveness is focused on advances in endodontic instrumentation, obturating materials, techniques and restoration of endodontically treated teeth. He has been an active member of various Endodontic organisations. Dr Kranthi was invited for guest lectures in India and Malaysia for various organisations like MDA, MPDPA, IDA, IACDE, MAPD and others.

Lecture
Topic : Endodontic Disinfection: Current Strategies and Protocols

Abstract :

Disinfection strategies in endodontics are aimed to eliminate biofilm bacteria not only from the main canals but also from the uninstrumented portions and anatomical complexities of the root canal system without inducing untoward effects on peri radicular tissue. The potential for an irrigant is maximized when it is heated, flooded into shaped canals, and given ample time to work. In this lecture the several advantages in the clinical endodontic outcome due to integration of new technologies, coupled with enhanced techniques such as sonic, ultrasonic and laser activation of irrigants will be discussed. This lecture also will describe systems designed to improve the intracanal bacterial decontamination by a specific chemical action, such as ozone, direct laser action or light-activated disinfection. The use of nanoparticles and application of newer systems using a broad spectrum of sound waves in the root canal disinfection will also be discussed.
